Summer School 02: Hydration Heroes for Hot Weather

Summer School 02: Hydration Heroes for Hot Weather

A new season calls for new skin care.

But don’t feel overwhelmed — you won’t need to overhaul your whole routine! Start by rethinking how you hydrate your skin. With more heat and higher humidity levels this time of year, our skin still craves hydration — but thicker, wintertime moisturizers can feel heavy.

In today’s Summer School lesson, our Dallas provider and nurse practitioner Hannah Vance shares her favorite summer swaps for healthy, hydrated skin — and explains why moisturizing is important, no matter the season or your skin type.

How should I edit my routine for summer?

Whether you’re an oily skin type or a dry skin type, you’ve probably noticed that the wintertime products you’ve been using just feel a little bit heavy on your skin. It’s totally normal to change your skin care routine from winter to summer, and I actually recommend doing this! The first thing I swap is my daily moisturizer.

What’s your go-to summer moisturizer?

My sunscreen’s in a moisturizer base, but it’s not enough hydration for my skin. However, if I’m using the same daily moisturizer that I use in the wintertime, it’s too heavy and too greasy.

Swapping a thicker moisturizer for a thinner one, like High Beam, is wonderful because it still gives my skin hydration without that kind of heavy, greasy feeling.

Any other summer swaps you’d recommend?

Lean into serums! Ones that have hyaluronic acid bases or other moisturizing ingredients are another great way to get lightweight hydration without feeling too heavy.

Your skin still needs hydration, no matter what season you’re in. If you feel stuck with your wintertime routine and don’t really know how to transition that into the summer, come see us — we’d love to help you create a summertime skin care routine!
