Adriana Castañeda MSN, NP-C

Since high school, Adriana always had an interest in science and a passion to help others, so pursuing a career in medicine seemed like a vocation that suited her personality. She initially moved to Houston, TX in 2008 to obtain her BSN at UT Health. After getting her RN license in 2010, she decided to move back to her hometown, where she had the opportunity to work in pediatrics. She craved growth in her nursing career and made Houston her permanent home in 2013, where she had the privilege to work in one of the top pediatric hospitals in the nation, Texas Children’s Hospital.

Her background in nursing consists of 10 years in general pediatrics, pediatric hematology / oncology as well as pediatric medical / surgical. At heart, Adriana knew bedside nursing wasn’t her long term career, so she decided to pursue a higher education and applied to graduate school at her alma mater. In 2019, she graduated at the top of her class with a Master of Science in Nursing degree in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. In the summer of 2019, she became board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Prior to joining Skin Pharm, Adriana worked as a nurse practitioner in primary care for three years. During the Covid pandemic in 2020, she was offered a job in the ER setting. While she enjoyed the fast-paced ER environment and holistic approach in primary care, she always had a passion for aesthetics and skin care. Growing up, Adriana’s mother was always vigilant with caring for her skin and taught her the importance of being proactive with having a good skin care routine, SPF daily and never sleeping with your makeup on! This sprouted her interest in cosmetic dermatology. 

Adriana’s journey to Skin Pharm was an accidental finding. (She randomly came across Skin Pharm on Instagram.) What she thought was someone’s gorgeous living room was actually a Skin Pharm lobby! She immediately wanted to learn more about the brand and fell in love with the skin care line and what Skin Pharm represents, empowering patients to feel good in their natural beauty. Shortly after, Adriana started following Maegan on Instagram, and when she announced Skin Pharm Houston was in the works, she had to immediately apply. Her instincts were telling her to look no further — she waited until the job posting was announced, and the rest is history!

Outside of work, Adriana is a lover of mother nature and anything outdoors. If she’s not in Houston, you can probably find her somewhere in the mountains. Her ultimate bucket list is to hike the highest mountain in the contiguous US, Mount Whitney! She is also a sucker for cute coffee shops, a good yoga class, exploring new places, trying local restaurants, running and enjoying a good read.
