Here’s our plan

Your Appointment
  • Schedule your appointment at least two weeks before a special event. Redness, peeling and dryness may be apparent in that time period.
  • Let your provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.
  • You may not have an active rash or infection in the area being treated.
  • You’ll need to avoid Accutane for six months prior to treatment.
  • You’ll need to avoid IPL/BBL photofacials, laser treatments and waxing two weeks prior to treatment.
  • Discontinue topical retinoids one week before treatment.
  • You may not receive a peel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • To set proper expectations, the treatment and peel process should be discussed in full prior to treatment.
  • We’ll apply the peel in-office and provide a post-treatment kit to help skin heal.
  • Enjoy healthy, radiant skin in a matter of days!
  • Redness or sensitivity might be present and can last up to a few days.
  • Peeling may start 1-3 days after treatment.
  • Don’t pick or scratch at treated skin. Use clean eyebrow scissors to trim peeling skin if needed.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 24 hours after treatment. Keep exercise light until peeling ends.
  • Avoid makeup until peeling ends and skin has healed. Use 100% Mineral Tinted SPF to camouflage if needed.
  • Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
  • If exposed to the sun, use broad spectrum SPF 30+ and reapply every two hours.
  • Wear sun-protective hats.
  • We’ll send you home with a post-procedure kit (our Jetsetter Kit) to use for the next 7-10 days as skin heals.
  • Wait one hour (or until your skin is cool) before applying Recovery Lotion or SPF.
  • Restart your regular routine after 7-10 days or once skin no longer feels dry, rough, tight and has completely healed.
  • Post-procedure kit is ideal for dry, sensitive skin and should only be used while skin heals. Prolonged use for oily, acne-prone skin can cause breakouts.
  • Avoid chemical/physical exfoliants and retinol for at least one week.
  • We recommend wearing broad spectrum SPF 30+ daily and reapplying every two hours.

FAQs

  • What’s the downtime like?

It’s common to experience peeling within 1-2 days of treatment, which can last up to five days. We recommend scheduling chemical peels around your work schedule if you’re concerned about social downtime.

  • When will I see results?

Results from peels that involve shedding of the skin are commonly noticed about one week after treatment.

  • How long do results last?

Results from treatment are permanent. We recommend diligent lifestyle measures and seasonal or yearly chemical peels to maintain results.

  • What areas can be treated with a chemical peel?

    • Acne
    • Enlarged pores
    • Melasma
    • Sun damage
    • Scarring
    • Fine lines
    • Deep wrinkles
  • Does it hurt?

The procedure is well tolerated and well accepted by patients. No anesthesia is needed.

  • Are there any other side effects I should know about?

The most common side effects include redness, peeling, swelling and itching. Rarely, chemical peels can cause acne that is under the surface to purge.

  • What are the different depths of chemical peels?

Medium-depth peels target the epidermis and papillary dermis, allowing for both the effects of light peels and improvement in features related to abnormalities in the superficial dermis, such as mild wrinkling and mild scarring.

  • I’m pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I get chemical peels?

No. Chemical peels should not be done while pregnant or breastfeeding.
