With summer on the horizon, we all know that sun protection is paramount.
But how else can you care for and feel confident in your skin during the warmer months?
Today, our Nashville provider Brittany Shannon, MSN, NP-C gives a lesson on the protective products and confidence-boosting treatments we recommend incorporating into your summer routine.
Watch the full episode below or read on for the recap!
Since UV rays are at their strongest during the summer months, it’s imperative to incorporate vitamin C and SPF. This pair is a one-two punch to address existing sun damage and prevent it in the future.
Sunscreen is your best anti-aging defense, and when you add in vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant, you are optimizing its efficacy. Vitamin C helps neutralize free radicals in the environment, increases photoprotection, decreases hyperpigmentation, boosts collagen and helps to brighten the skin — win, win, win!
Pro tip: During the warmer months, I like to layer my Glow Factor vitamin C serum and 100% Mineral Tinted SPF in lieu of foundation.
Yes! In addition to Gold Infusions and microneedling, I love to continue my Botox/Dysport. I do full face, neck and then add in trapezius Botox, or what we call “trap ’tox“ or “Barbie Botox.”
Injecting Botox/Dysport into your trapezius muscles helps to slim down your shoulders, so you’ll look and feel your best in strapless dresses or bikinis. Not only does it have a slimming effect, but it also helps to relieve tension. If you hold stress in your shoulders, trapezius Botox/Dysport is a great way to relieve neck pain and improve posture, too. So you’re not only snatched, but you’re also relaxed.
Another good treatment to consider, especially if you have that fun summer vacation coming up and want to feel your absolute best, is facial balancing with filler, or an even more natural option, PRP gel.
Facial balancing helps to enhance your own features in a natural and subtle way, and it’s not season- or sun exposure-dependent, so it’s great for this time of year.
In addition to your vitamin C and SPF, you can wear sun shirts and hats for increased UV protection. Remember to apply sunscreen to your body, too — not just your face!
Using the right moisturizer for your skin type, drinking plenty of water and eating antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables are all great ways to keep your skin plump, healthy and glowing during the summer months.
