3 Gold Infusion Facial Benefits for Your Skin

3 Gold Infusion Facial Benefits for Your Skin

For centuries, gold has been linked with the finer things in life — and gold facials are no exception.

The benefits of Gold Infusion facials are far more comprehensive than people often think, and your ability to customize this treatment makes it even more appealing!

What are the most common gold facial benefits? How are these facials performed? We're breaking it all down.

What is a gold facial?

The “gold” in a gold facial refers to the 24-karat gold needles found in the treatment's microinfusion device. But don’t be nervous — they’re so tiny that you’ll barely even feel them (similar to Botox).

These needles are used to gently stamp a combination of ingredients under the skin. We'll use a proprietary cocktail of vitamins and super-hydrating antioxidants tailored to your skin care goals.

The ability to customize your Gold Infusion ingredients makes this a safe treatment for nearly every skin type and situation.

Three gold facial benefits

Because of how easily customizable gold facials are, we can incorporate specific ingredients to target your skin concerns — but there are some common gold facial benefits that everyone can expect!

1. Reveals glowing, radiant skin

A common sign of struggling skin is dullness. There are various reasons that this can happen, including age, clogged pores and a lack of hydration.

Gold facials can help counteract the factors that lead to dull skin, leaving your skin more hydrated, glowing and radiant. This gentle stamping treatment creates tiny micro-wounds, which encourage skin rejuvenation and support blood flow to the face.

2. Supports collagen production

When it comes to the skin’s appearance, no component is more critical than collagen. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and, along with elastin, makes up the extracellular matrix that supports the skin and helps it bounce back.

One of the gold facial benefits that has the most holistic advantages for the skin’s appearance is its ability to help support the skin’s natural collagen production. Maintaining high levels of collagen in the skin leads to many other benefits as well, such as minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

For even more noticeable results, you can stack your gold facial with other treatments meant to plump up the face, like dermal fillers.

3. Minimizes the appearance of dark spots

Dark spots can crop up for many reasons, including age, hormonal changes, skin injury and sun damage. Regardless of why it happens, having areas of skin that are visibly darker than the rest can make some people self-conscious.

Along with a supportive skin care routine, gold facials can improve the skin’s ability to rejuvenate itself. Over time, this process (especially when you incorporate the right active ingredients into your routine) can help fade the appearance of dark spots.

Are there side effects to gold facials?

As impressive as gold facial benefits can be, there are also a few temporary side effects that can occur immediately after treatment.

The most common post-facial side effect is redness (with or without tenderness or sensitivity). For most people, this redness only lasts a few hours — but it can be visible enough that you may want to take that into account when scheduling your appointment. After this subsides, your skin will be glowing!

Should you do anything special before your appointment?

Besides strategically scheduling your gold facial appointment, there are a few other ways that you can reduce the likelihood of side effects and enahnce the quality of your results.

For example, although gold facials are generally great for all skin types, people with active cold sores or a rash on their face will need to reschedule their appointment. Even if you don’t have an active cold sore, tell your provider if you have a history of them, as they may want you to start on an antiviral before having your gold facial.

You’ll also need to stop using Accutane (a popular acne medication) for at least six months prior to your facial and avoid any waxing or laser procedures for one week before your appointment. Stopping the use of topical retinoids for at least 24 hours before your facial can also help reduce the potential for sensitivity.

Post-facial tips for optimal results

Cosmetic treatments don’t make a positive impact in isolation — it takes the right post-treatment care to support your skin and achieve the results you’re looking for. Our skin care providers have several tips to help you care for your skin after treatment so you can see the best possible results.

These include:

  • Avoid picking or scratching at your skin post-facial.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise or activities that will make you sweat excessively for 24 hours after your appointment.
  • Avoid tanning or other prolonged exposure to the sun until your skin has healed (and use sunscreen when you do).
  • Don’t wear makeup for 24 hours after your appointment.
  • Follow up with your provider as recommended.

In addition to those tips, your post-facial skin care routine also plays a role in your results. At Skin Pharm, our usual recommendations include cleansing the skin with our Foaming Cleanser twice daily, followed by our supportive Recovery Lotion as needed. After three days, or once your skin is no longer sensitive, you can return to your regular skin care routine (including exfoliants).

The bottom line...

Gold facials can be customized according to your needs and skin care goals, which makes them one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the game. When combined with a supportive, effective skin care routine, gold facials can make a huge difference in how your skin looks — and how you feel about it!
