Skin Care Tips for Your Summer Trips

Skin Care Tips for Your Summer Trips

Jet-setting this summer?

Keep these travel skin care tips in mind to keep your complexion at its best!

1. Prep your skin before you go.

The night (or morning) before traveling, prep your skin by doing your full skin care routine. Enjoy all the products you might not be packing and indulge in ones that’ll hydrate and moisturize your skin.

This is especially important if you’re flying. The air that circulates throughout an airplane is significantly drier than what we’re used to on the ground. By properly moisturizing before takeoff, you give your skin a better chance of staying moisturized despite high altitudes and low humidity levels.

2. Focus on hydration.

Speaking of moisture, let’s talk about the moisture barrier. Also called the skin barrier, this is what keeps your skin hydrated, plump and protected from environmental stressors. It needs (you guessed it) moisture to stay strong and intact.

Be sure to pack the right moisturizer for your skin type — one that includes ingredients like barrier lipids, ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Our Recovery Lotion is perfect for soothing and hydrating skin on the go — and it’s TSA-approved in our Jetsetter Kit!

3. SPF is your BFF.

Summer travel often involves extended sun exposure. We know you’re already wearing your SPF daily (you are, aren’t you?!). Keep it up while traveling, and don’t just protect your face. Grab your fave body sunscreen and cover any areas that’ll see the sun. This is the best way to protect your skin from premature signs of aging.

While it might not seem like you’re risking a sunburn on an airplane, make sure you’re covered here, too! You’re much closer to the sun than you would be on the ground, and therefore more susceptible to UV damage.

4. Don’t neglect your under-eyes.

The skin around your eyes is some of the most delicate on your body. If late night drives, early morning flights and jet lag have you feeling tired, your under-eyes will be the first to show it.

A peptide-rich eye cream like Eye Sculpt will de-puff, brighten dark circles and moisturize, too. Pair it with reusable Eye Patches that you can wear, rinse and reuse throughout your trip for some extra TLC.

5. Leave retinols and abrasives at home.

If your vacation’s taking you somewhere extra sunny, take a vacation from any retinols and abrasive exfoliants. These can make your skin more sensitive to the sun and may not be worth the space in your suitcase. They’ll be there when you get back!

6. Pack these carry-on companions.

Be realistic about your routine while traveling. You don’t have to take every single product with you! Keep it simple with a few staples.

Our TSA-approved Jetsetter Kit has you covered with a foaming cleanser and Recovery Lotion. Take your favorite sunscreen, too. Pack an under-eye cream like Eye Sculpt, because it won’t take up much room and because your eyes will thank you later. Extra space? Take Youth Serum for extra hydration!
