Will I peel from my chemical peel?
With lighter peels, it is common to notice mild redness immediately after the peel. This will improve within hours. With deeper peels, it is common to notice shedding of the skin within 1-2 days of treatment. This shedding can last up to 5 days after treatment. We recommend scheduling chemical peels around your work schedule if you are concerned about the social downtime.
When will I see results?
Results from lighter chemical peels are noticed within several days. Results from peels that involve shedding of the skin are commonly noticed about one week after treatment.
How long do results last?
Results from treatment are permanent. We recommend diligent lifestyle measures and seasonal or yearly chemical peels to maintain results.
Does it hurt?
The procedure is well tolerated and well accepted by patients. No anesthesia is needed.
Are there any other side effects I should know about?
The most common side effects include redness, peeling, swelling and itching. Rarely, chemical peels can cause acne that is under the surface to purge.
What are the different depths of chemical peels?
Light (superficial) peels target the epidermis. The effects of light peels generally consist of skin brightening and evening of skin color and texture.
Medium-depth peels target the epidermis and papillary dermis, allowing for both the effects of light peels and improvement in features related to abnormalities in the superficial dermis, such as mild wrinkling and mild scarring.
I’m pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I get chemical peels.
We recommend receiving clearance from your OBGYN prior to treatment if pregnant or breastfeeding.
