Your Guide to Filler, Sculptra and Skinvive

Filler, Sculptra and Skinvive are injectables we use for facial rejuvenation.

While they all contribute to a balanced, youthful and healthy complexion, filler, Sculptra and Skinvive offer their own unique benefits, too! We’re breaking down the ingredients behind these injectables, how they work and the results you can expect from each.

What is hyaluronic acid filler?

Filler is used to create instant volume, smooth the look of fine lines and improve overall facial harmony. At Skin Pharm, we use hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. HA is a naturally-occurring substance in the body that helps us maintain a plump, hydrated appearance. HA fillers are designed to have a similar effect. The results of filler are immediate and can last anywhere from six months to two years.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is a biostimulator made from poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA). It stimulates the body’s natural collagen production process to gradually restore lost volume. The result is subtle, natural-looking volume and an improvement in skin texture. Collagen takes time to build, so results are visible after about eight weeks and can last up to two years.

What is Skinvive?

Skinvive is made from a modified hyaluronic acid, but it doesn’t add volume or change the shape of your face. It stimulates hydration and collagen within the skin to smooth fine lines, soften texture and leave skin with a lasting glow. You’ll notice more hydrated skin within about four weeks and enjoy a smooth, radiant complexion for up to six months.

Are filler, Sculptra and Skinvive injected in different areas?

Yes! Where we place product — and which product we use — depends on your desired results.

  • Filler is injected into areas like the cheeks, lips, chin and jawline to improve facial harmony and create natural-looking volume.
  • Sculptra is injected into areas like the temples, cheeks and jawline to rebuild collagen and restore volume.
  • Skinvive is injected superficially into the cheeks, the lips and fine lines to smooth and enhance hydration.

Which one is right for me?

The right option for you all comes back to your skin goals.

  • If you want instant volume or facial balancing, go with filler.
  • If you want to restore lost collagen and create long-lasting volume, go with Sculptra.
  • If you want to improve skin hydration, plumpness and radiance, go with Skinvive.

Still need help deciding? Book a skin consult with one of our board-certified providers, and we’ll create a treatment plan just for you — whether that includes filler, Sculptra, Skinvive or a combination of the three!
