Your Appointment

Schedule your appointment at least four weeks before a special event. This gives potential swelling and bruising time to subside.
To minimize bruising or bleeding, we recommend discontinuing the use of aspirin, NSAIDS, gingko biloba, garlic, ginseng, St. John's Wort, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamin A, vitamin E or any other essential fatty acids at least three days to one week before and after treatment. Talk to your primary physician before discontinuing any medications.
Starting arnica supplements at least two days before injections may help with bruising.
You may not have an active rash or infection in the area being treated.
You may not be pregnant or breastfeeding.

Let us know which area bothers you — double chin, bra area, abdomen, thighs, etc.
We’ll apply cold packs prior to the treatment.
The injections last less than 10 minutes.
Apply cold pack again and embrace the swelling during recovery!

Swelling is expected. Peak swelling will last for about a week and will gradually go down over the next 4-6 weeks.
Redness or sensitivity might be present and can last for a few hours.
Use Tylenol as needed for possible soreness.
Don’tperform activities that involve straining, heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for 48 hours after treatment.
Sleep face-up and slightly elevated to help with swelling.
Don’t touch, press, rub, massage or manipulate the treatment area.
For 24 hours after treatment, place ice packs on treated areas for 20 minutes at a time. Repeat as needed.
To help decrease bruising, swelling and discomfort, you may continue taking oral arnica and apply OTC arnica gel to treatment areas.
Drink plenty of water and fluids after treatment.
Avoid gingko biloba, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamin A, vitamin E, any other essential fatty acids, aspirin, ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS at least three days to one week after treatment. These may increase bleeding and bruising.
Avoid cosmetic treatments like injectables, lasers, ultrasounds, peels, facials or microdermabrasion on the treatment area for at least two weeks after treatment.
Numbness / decreased sensation in the treated area is normal and will return to baseline within 8-12 weeks.
Notify your provider immediately if you develop an asymmetric smile, facial muscle weakness, skin ulceration in the treatment area, difficulty swallowing or if any existing symptoms worsen.

What’s the downtime like?

You’ll notice mild to moderate swelling (which can be camouflaged with clothing) immediately after treatment. Moderate swelling may last about 72 hours, and mild swelling may persist for up to 12 weeks.
When will I see results?

Results are commonly noticed 12 weeks after treatment. Significant results are seen after more than one treatment and several treatments are recommended for dramatic improvement.
How long do results last?

Results from treatment are permanent. We recommend diligent lifestyle measures to maintain fat loss results.
Does it hurt?

A cold pack is applied prior to treatment to minimize discomfort. The procedure is well tolerated and well accepted by patients.
Are there any other side effects I should know about?

The most common reactions include pain at the injection site, bleeding, bruising/hematoma, temporary redness and swelling, induration at the injection site and nerve injury causing temporary numbness.
I’m pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I get Kybella?

No. Kybella should not be done while pregnant or breastfeeding.
