Your Appointment

Schedule your appointment at least two weeks before a special event. Redness, swelling and bruising may be apparent in that time period.
To minimize bruising or bleeding, we recommend discontinuing the use of aspirin, NSAIDS, gingko biloba, garlic, ginseng, St. John's Wort, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamin A, vitamin E or any other essential fatty acids at least three days to one week before and after treatment. Talk to your primary physician before discontinuing any medications.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplements and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after treatment. These may increase your risk of bruising and swelling.
Starting arnica supplements at least two days before injections may help with bruising.
Let your provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.
You may not have an active rash in the area being treated.
You’ll need to avoid IPL/BBL photofacials, laser treatments and waxing for seven days before treatment.
You may not be pregnant. If breastfeeding, we require clearance from your pediatrician.

We’ll discuss your areas of concern and decide whether injections or microneedling are best for you.
We’ll apply a topical numbing cream to ensure you’re comfortable for your treatment.
We’ll use a very fine needle to inject your Sculptra or use our microneedling device to create tiny micro-wounds. You’ll get a nice facial massage either way, which helps ensure the Sculptra is distributed evenly!
Results often start to appear 6-8 weeks after initial injections and will continue to produce for the first year after injections. (The number of treatments you’ll need depends on your age and extent of collagen loss, too.)

Redness or sensitivity might be present and can last up to 14 days.
Use Tylenol for any soreness.
For five days after treatment, massage the treated area(s) five times each day for about five minutes.
Don’t get a massage for at least two weeks post-treatment.
Avoid makeup for 24 hours.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
Avoid extensive sun, heat and extreme cold for 72 hours.
If instructed by your provider, apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour to help with swelling.
If needed, you may take an antihistamine to help with swelling.
Sleep face-up and slightly elevated to help with swelling.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an injectable treatment used to restore lost volume. It contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible substance that helps stimulate the body’s natural collagen production, resulting in increased volume over time.
How does Sculptra work?

Sculptra can be injected directly or used with microneedling. Once beneath the skin, the PLLA particles start stimulating collagen — a protein that provides structural support to the skin. Gradually, this increased collagen production improves skin laxity, texture, firmness and volume.
What areas can be treated with Sculptra?

Sculptra is used to treat areas of the face with lost volume, including the temples, preauricular area, cheeks, chin, jawline, neck and chest.

Are there any side effects with Sculptra?

Like all cosmetic treatments, Sculptra has a few potential side effects. You may experience temporary swelling, redness, bruising or mild discomfort at the injection site, but these typically go away within a few days.
Is Sculptra safe for everyone?

While safe for most people, it’s not safe for those with certain allergies or medical conditions and those who are pregnant. If you’re breastfeeding, you should get clearance from your pediatrician first. Please let your provider know if you have any history of autoimmune disease, too.
How long does it take to see results?

Sculptra works by stimulating collagen, and that collagen needs time to build! You’ll start seeing volume increase gradually (6-8 weeks after initial injections), and you’ll continue to see results the first year after injections.
Can I get Sculptra with other treatments?

Yes! You can stack Sculptra with filler, Botox, microneedling and more. Combining treatments can help you see even greater results. Talk to your provider about which treatment combos might be good for your skin.
